Popular cricketer and former Sri Lanka Captain Kumar Sangakkara will join well known singing duo the De Lanerolle Brothers to present a special concert to support each other’s charities on February 5 at the Water’s Edge main ballroom at 7 p.m.

The De Lanerolle Brothers will perform and Kumar Sangakkara will address the audience about his on-going charitable work in the North East. The audience will enjoy a rare opportunity to mingle with the stars and take photographs together.

The Bikes for Life campaign, initiated by Sangakkara and managed by the Foundation for Goodness, aims to raise Rs.20 million (approx. $150,000) to purchase 1500 bicycles for children living in the rural areas surrounding Kilinochchi, Mankulam and Mullaitivu. These bicycles will be given to children who desperately need transportation to attend school and obtain the education necessary to free them from a life of hardship and poverty. The BFL campaign, which started in October 2011, has already raised over Rs.14 million with 900 bikes already delivered to children in the north.

The de Lanerolle Brothers are raising funds for the Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind (CSDB), which is run by the Diocese of Colombo and managed by a Board of Trustees of which the Bishop of Colombo is the Chairperson. The Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind operates three residential schools: The School for the Deaf and The School for the Blind at Ratmalana; and the Nuffield School for the Deaf and Blind at Kaithady in Jaffna. The three schools provide education and vocational training to approximately 700 hearing and sight impaired children completely free of charge.

Tickets for the show are available at Park Street Mews, Commons and Waters Edge, priced at Rs. 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 and 5000.
