My pet

My pet cat’s name is Furry
Because she is so sweet and purry
She likes feasting on rice and curry
I love you my lovable little Furry

There she lays sleeping on the mat
She likes chewing on my father’s hat
Although that little cat has never caught a rat
She really is the most wonderful cat

She always runs at an alarming pace
Looking as though about to run a race
There she sits with her charming face
With her fluffy tail all wrapped in silken lace

Though our Fluffy has not many kittens
She does have paws as soft as mittens
In her face there’s mischief hidden
About her this poem, I have written

At Christmas

On December 25th it was Christmas and I was eagerly awaiting for that day as it happens to be my grandfather’s birthday. As usual we always go out to celebrate these two events so we planned to go to Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel, Colombo to spend the day.

It was a very beautiful hotel and it was decorated with many Christmas decorations and there was a very tall Christmas tree. We took some photographs and then we had lunch in the dining hall. It was the most delicious food I’ve ever tasted.

Then Mr. Santa Claus and two other ladies who were dressed as Mrs. Claus and Miss. Claus gave us sweets and presents. We took pictures with the Clauses and they were lovely.

It was a very nice Christmas for me and I bet everyone had lovely time in the hotel. It was fantastic!

Awards Day

The British Language Centre Annual Awards Day was held on November 25 at the BMICH. It was a exciting day for me since I also got a certificate. The chief guest was Minister Vasudewa Nanayakkara,
the guests of honour were Premila Paulraj Vice President of Pearson Edexcel, Director of the British Council Harriet Gardner and Professor Tissa Vitharana.
The programme started with the lighting of the oil lamp followed by the welcome song, pooja dance and various other songs and dances. The guests then distributed the awards. Speeches were given by the guests and the chairman Mr. Sudath Mohottala. This was a special memorable day for me.

My favourite birthday gift

My birthday was on August 22. I turned six years. I had a party at McDonald’s. My classmate gave me a Barbie doll. I like playing with it. I dress it up in beautiful clothes. Barbie has golden hair and is very pretty. She is my favourite toy.

My trip to Kandy

On December 22, our family went to Kandy. We went there by our car. We stayed in Hotel Tree of Life. I swam and played in the pool with my sister. We ate tasty food and took many photographs.

I saw three baby elephants at Pinnawala. I saw beautiful flowers, ponds, tall trees at the gardens. I wish to go there again. I loved my trip very much.

My trip to India

We went to India on August 21, 2012. I went with my family. We arrived at the International
New Delhi Airport. That day we spent the night at Hotel Rockwell Plaza in New Delhi.

The next day we went to Agra. It was a rainy day and the roads were flooded. We visited the
Taj Mahal which was built by Shah Jehan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Next we proceeded to Varanasi. There we went to River Ganges and went on a boat ride. We saw many dead bodies being burnt by the banks of the river. We also saw a pooja (Arathi) made to the river. We also visited the place where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon after becoming Buddha in Isipathana.

From there we went to Buddhagaya where Prince Siddhartha became Buddha.  We visited the Maha Bodhi temple and also saw the Asoka pillars and Sri Maha Bodhiya. We also visited many other places of Buddhist interest such as Lumbini, where Prince Siddhartha was born and Kushinara where Lord Buddha passed away. We returned back to Delhi and then to Colombo after this tour in India. It was a very interesting and educational tour to India.
