At present the school houses over 1500 students, who are provided with the best educational facilities and guided by a staff of nearly 50 teachers. Around five members of the non-academic staff offer priceless service to be the school mechanism on the move.

Ethkandura Seevali was inaugurated in the 19th century, as a Primary School by Mr. Sasana Chandra Mulligoda with a very few students under the guidance of Mr. Aadhihetti, the founder principal. With the increase of its student numbers, the secondary school was moved to the Pullimale area. Although many devoted principals served the school, Mr. M. P. twelve years at the school. A few of the things he did were starting the A/L commerce stream and constructing many buildings which created an environment which nurtured each student’s development, which helped them gain entrance into several leading universities.

Currently, I.D.R. Priyadarshani, the Principal, serves the school with untiring enthusiasm and inexhaustible energy. The Minister of Resettlement Hon. M.H. Gunarathna Weerakoon frequently offers the school support, having sponsored the Gurarathna Weerakoon building, arena and the playground. Presently the school is well-equipped with a library, science

They have demonstrated their academic strength at the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination, where they emerged sixth in the zone, with twelve students getting through. Their achievements at the G.C.E (O/L) and (A/L) exams have gradually increased along with the development of the school.

Shan Wijeyalal, Education Minister of Southern Province, Hon. Chandima Rasaputhra, Member of Southern Provincial Council, Lasantha Wijeyanayaka, Old Boys of the college and the President of Valivitiya Divithura Pradesya Saba, Gunasiri Lokuge, brought the school to this level. Moreover the parents of the school always give their maximum support.”
