In an impressive showcase of talent and commitment, students of Gateway School of Speech and Drama and Gateway Colleges have once again demonstrated their excellence in the performing arts arena. Achieving a notable milestone, these young performers secured 13 Associate Diplomas of Trinity College London (ATCL) in Speech and Drama and Performance Arts, underscoring their dedication and marking a significant accomplishment.
Gateway School of Speech and Drama and Gateway Colleges have consistently been at the forefront of producing high achievers in the field of drama and allied subjects and constantly shining at examinations. In following the tradition at this year’s TCL – Sri Lanka Prize Giving Aqeel Sameer, Uththara Vidanagamage, Chaagi Weerasekera, Lithumi Abeykoon, and Dinithi Abeykoon of Gateway School of Speech and Drama; Sanethri Munasinghe, Yuvana Thomas, Disuli de Silva, Nirubini Suresan, and Pahandi Silva of Gateway College Colombo; Mishal Mustafa. Shamika Senthiladasan, and Maariya Abdul Gani of Gateway College Dehiwala received their Diplomas. Pahandi and Maariya obtained ATCL Performing in Performance Arts and the other students obtained ATCL Performing in Speech and Drama
Gateway Colleges extend the opportunity for students to pursue the Associate of Trinity College London (ATCL) qualification as an optional subject at the Advanced Subsidiary (AS) level. This initiative allows students to delve deeper into their passion for the performing arts while simultaneously enriching their academic journey. Throughout their Advanced Level years, they sit for ATCL Performing Arts as well as Speech and Drama examinations obtaining dual diplomas during their final school years.
The students’ commitment and perseverance underscore the support and resources provided by Gateway Colleges in nurturing students’ talents and facilitating their academic growth. Gateway College Dehiwala, introduced the programme in 2022, has swiftly established itself as a hub for nurturing artistic talent and academic excellence. Gateway College Colombo followed suit in 2024. Gateway School of Speech and Drama has been producing Diploma Holders since 2012.
Gateway School of Speech and Drama so far has produced 65 Associates and 14 Licentiates of Trinity College London, 16 Performers Certificate holders of London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), 21 Licentiates of Colombo Academy of Language Skills and Dramatic Art (CALSDA) and nearly 750 medallists of London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), and Gateway Colleges have produced 19 Associates of Trinity College London and nearly 600 medallists of London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).
Gateway School of Speech and Drama, alongside Gateway Colleges, remain committed to maintaining its long standing reputation for excellence by providing students with the support, training, and opportunities required to succeed in the competitive field of performing arts.
