INTRODUCTION

We are facing multiple crises in our country and around the globe due to negative thinking and negative attitude.

The author has penned down his thoughts on the importance of saving and sharing with others, to benefit our Society and Motherland thus living Joyfully and ebulliently in the future.

VALUES INCULCATED IN THE JOSEPHIANS YOUNG AND OLD AND THE CONTRIBUTIONS MADE BY ST.JOSEPH’S COLLEGE, COLOMBO 10, TO OUR SOCIETY,  MOTHERLAND AND UNIVERSE

The saving habits and values should be instilled by parents. A school plays a pivotal role in shaping up responsible, valuable and worthy citizens for the Motherland. In this context, the Principals, Pedagogues, Mentors and Teachers should provide enthusiastic encouragement and inspiration to their students to save money by propagating the need, values and importance of saving money from a tender age, as teaching financial literacy early is widely recognised as a crucial habit.

Simultaneously, the Rev. Fr. Rectors, Priest Community, Principals and Teachers should also educate the students on the importance of earning, saving, spending carefully and wisely, as well as to contribute towards the charitable service, voluntarily.

THE ART OF EARNING, SAVING, SPENDING AND SHARING

I would categorise it as the “Art of  “Earning’, Saving’, “Spending’ and “ Sharing’” , which is the “demand of the moment” for the Sri Lankans and citizens around the globe.

To learn about these immensely valuable art, students should join the voluntary associations, clubs, societies and organisations, like Young Buddhists, or, Catholic, or Muslim, or Hindu Students Society, or Interact Club or SVP Association or Cub Scouts, or Singithi Scouts, or Scout Troop or Rover Scout Troop, voluntarily.

Furthermore, I would like to recommend to our National leader, Hon.Prime Minister and all Ministers of Religious and Cultural Affairs, to initiate plans to inaugurate similar associations, clubs and societies across the schools including the religious schools in our Motherland, to produce wealth and prosperity, peace, unity, harmony and encourage symbiotic relationships between all societies and most importantly transforming our Nation into “True Paradise Nation”, in the coming years to benefit our younger and future generations, which is “critical priority” and cardinal duty for all of us as Parents, National Leaders, Reverend Father Rectors, Reverend Fathers and Reverend Sisters, Principals, Religious and Spiritual leaders and Pedagogues and Educators, who should join together to overcome the present social crisis successfully and swiftly, to live harmoniously, joyfully and peacefully, in Sri Lanka, the Garden of Eden.

THE IMPORTANCE OF INCULCATING POSITIVE VALUES IN STUDENTS

If we teach our children to live harmoniously by sharing, caring and inspiring others, when they grow up and become adults, they become worthy, generous minded and generous hearted, peaceful and peace loving citizens besides being compassionate towards their fellow citizens.

As you know, this emphasises a commitment to harmony, non-violence and law-abiding behaviour.

In my humble opinion, this is one of the better ways to transform a mediocre child into a “marvelous child” and a “miraculous citizen” of our Motherland, in the future.

CONCLUSION

I am glad to express that we, as Josephians, have been brought up in this manner by our respected Parents, Renowned Religious and Spiritual Leaders, Eminent Reverend Father Rectors, Pedagogues and Distinguished Teachers, in a multi-cultural,  multi-ethnicity and multi- linguistic environment for which we the Josephians young and old  are greatly indebted to them.

We were taught to think differently and practice “give” and “give” instead of “take and take” or “take and give”, which has been practised by common people in our Country and World over.

We are greatly indebted to our “Miraculous Patron, St. Joseph” for his choicest blessings upon us and Reverend Father Rectors former and present and the 14th Reverend Father Rector, Priest Community,All our Pedagogues and Educators, Par Excellence,  for their immense valuable efforts and magnificent and worthy contributions in imparting knowledge, skills, values and positive thinking and positive attitude including having an “Attitude of Gratitude”, which has definitely shaped and transformed our lives as unique and miraculous ones.

This has been the upbringing, values and traditions instilled by St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, the Citadel of Educational Institutes, in Sri Lanka, which is marching forward elegantly, triumphantly and majestically in its 130th Glorious year thus serving our Society, Motherland and Universe, in realising its Founder’s Vision.

Education matters, but the Hall of Fame Educational Institute matters the most.
