CENTER FOR INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION (CIE)

The Official Launch of CIE & ATHE, organised by Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, was successfully held on 25th March 2026 at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo – King’s Court, from 5.00 p.m. onwards.
Established in 1970 and incorporated by an Act of Parliament, SLIM stands as the national body for marketing in Sri Lanka, playing a pivotal role in shaping the country’s marketing and business landscape.
This landmark event marked the official introduction of the Center for International Education (CIE), the dedicated international education arm of SLIM, which serves as a gateway to globally recognized education and international career opportunities. Through CIE, students are offered clear and flexible academic pathways from foundation and diploma programmes to internationally accredited Bachelor’s and Postgraduate qualifications, including MBA and MSc programmes, with future prospects extending to doctoral-level studies.
Mr. Enoch Perera, Vice President – Events and Sustainability of SLIM, delivered the Welcome Address, stating, “Today marks the beginning of an exciting journey with the launch of CIE where education transcends boundaries, connects opportunities, and opens doors to a world of limitless possibilities. It is a step toward empowering individuals to grow, excel, and thrive on a global stage.”
The event was further elevated by the presence of His Excellency Andrew Patrick, British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest and delivered an inspiring address, “It is a privilege to be part of the launch of CIE, an initiative that connects Sri Lankan students to globally recognised education. It creates new opportunities, builds pathways to excellence, and prepares students to succeed on the international stage.”
The Guest of Honor, Alex Birks, Chief Executive of Awards for Training and Higher Education (ATHE), also addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of international qualifications in today’s competitive landscape: “International qualifications are essential in equipping students for today’s competitive global landscape. Initiatives like CIE create clear pathways for learners to achieve academic excellence and open doors to rewarding opportunities worldwide.”
The audience was further inspired by the address delivered by Prof. Dewasiri N. Jayantha, President of SLIM, who emphasised the institution’s vision for global education and professional excellence: “SLIM strives to align local talent with international standards, promoting excellence and creating opportunities for students to excel on both national and global stages. Through programmes like CIE, we aim to prepare the next generation of leaders for a world of limitless possibilities.”
