After your O/Levels? Start the University Foundation Year at ANC Education.

Parents with children who are after local O/Level exams have to determine the best choice in terms of a pathway for their children to enter university.

While A/levels are a more familiar option – as parents you need to decide if it actually provides your child the best preparation for university.

A/Levels exist in a few forms but they all produce the same type of student, one who is completely dependant on one exam to determine his/her future. What you need to question is if it prepares your child to succeed in university or just simply enter it?

ANC Education has been in the forefront of Sri Lanka’s private education industry by offering Sri Lankan students a world-class equivalent for A/Levels – the University Foundation Year (UFY).

UFY is designed and endorsed by Monash University Australia. UFY is equivalent to A/Levels and Australian Year 12 and is recognised by the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) for student visa purposes – a requirement that most other foundation programmes in Sri Lanka do not satisfy.

Thus, UFY allows admission into the full range of undergraduate degrees and you can access ALL Australian Universities. UFY is also accepted by top universities in the UK Malaysia and New Zealand.

Whether you are planning for a career in medicine, business, information technology, engineering, science, or the arts, the UFY programme’s flexible format enables students to tailor their study for the degree of their choice. The teaching methods and continuous internal assessments offered to students emulate the academic style followed at university.

What makes UFY different from the A/levels is that the final grades from A/levels are based on exams only whereas with UFY it is not. Moreover, the programme is of one year duration compared to A/Levels which are a two year programme.

Thus, starting UFY after O/Levels provides students the opportunity of graduating and entering the workforce one and a half years ahead of their peers who opt for A/Level studies.

With the UFY syllabus divided into two semesters, examinations are held at the end of each semester and internal assessment conducted throughout the semesters.

Thus, a student’s overall grade is determined by the cumulative average of their entire performance in both semesters including internal assessments and examinations.

This enables the student to obtain a better reflection of their abilities and develop a greater understanding and appreciation of the subject content they study.

For many UFY students, starting at ANC Education offers a smooth transition, academically and emotionally from studying in their home country to the social and academic environment of an international university.

Many local students seek admission into a top Australian University because an Australian education is a truly international experience.

Australian universities are linked to institutions in more than 100 countries and academic staff members are recruited from abroad. After graduating in Australia, you will be able to work in companies around the world.

An Australian university will provide you with a sound understanding of your chosen field, along with academic skills that can be applied to other areas.

You won’t just be learning about health, science, engineering or the arts. You’ll also be learning how to think creatively and independently.
