‘Step Forward’ a walk organised by the past pupils of St. John’s Girls’ School Panadura was held recently beginning from the school premises at 8.00am. This walk was conducted to coincide the 110th year celebrations of St. John’s Girls’ School and to commemorate its founder Emilia Jansz and Cyril Arnold Jansz, the founder of St. John’s Boy’s School Panadura.

The walk was launched by Neil Perera, the serving head of Board of Trustees for both schools. A large number of students from St. John’s Girls’ and Boys’ schools made the walk, which went around the city of Panadura, an immense success. Members of the Past Pupils’ Association, the organisers, parents and well-wishers added strength to the event while officials in the ranks of Kamala Peiris (former Director of Education), D.K. Subasinghe, Lionel Panditharatne, Damayanthi Wickremasinghe (Principal), Lakshila Ailapperuma (Deputy Principal) and the academic staff took part in the event. Dilrukshi Gunawardena and Krishanthi Gunawardena took leading roles representing the PPA. – NA
