65% of successful O/L-2012 candidates qualify for A/L

Sixty five per cent of the students who passed GCE-O/L-2012, qualified for the GCE-A/L, the Cabinet was told this week, when Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena submitted the Analysis of Examination Results for GCE-O/L-2012.

The figures included information on achievement at National, Provincial, District and Zonal levels, based on the results.
The note to the Cabinet said this number which qualified for A/L was an increase of 15.04% from 2005 – 2012.

It said that the percentage of students who have failed in all the subjects which was 8.02% in 2005, has decreased to 4.13% in 2012, while the percentage of students qualifying to follow A/L classes in the Eastern, Northern and Uva Provinces has increased by 5.8%, 5.731% and 5.81% respectively, when compared with 2011.
