Talawakelle Plantation continues winning streak

Talawakelle Plantations coached by the present St. Sylvester’s College Kandy Head Coach Mohamed Faizal stamped their class for the second consecutive year when they beat Pusselawa Plantations by 28-14 in a tensed final played in front of a packed crowd at Darawela yesterday.
Maturata Plantation went on to win the Bowl when they went passed a helpless Agarapathana Plantations. While in the Plate Final Haputale Plantations beat Bogawantalawa Plantations.
Special mention must be made as this tournament did not have a sponsor the entire expenditure was shouldered by the Darawela Cricket Club headed by D. Ratwatte.
Speaking to Sunday Times the former President and Trinitian Mohan Ghanapathy said that this tournament was initiated by Radella and later on moved to Darawella in late 90′s. He ended by saying that this club conducts a six a side cricket tournament on an annual basis and expected some sponsors to come forward for the development of the sport in this part of the country. He hinted out for some assistance from central Province Rugby Football Union.
