Professor Sucharitha Gamlath, a prominent academic in Sinhala Literature and Literary criticism passed away at the Colombo National Hospital yesterday morning (30).

He is known for compiling and editing the largest English Sinhala Dictionary in the history of lexicons in Sri Lanka. He was also a renowned Marxist literary critic and an expert in oriental and occidental languages for over four decades. Prof. Gamlath’s body lies at the Jayaratne funeral parlour and the funeral will be held tomorrow at Borella, Kanatte
