The Earth Speaks

I give you clean air
You give me poisonous gas
I give you mountains
You give me quarries

I give you life
You give me death
I give you vast oceans
You give me oil spills

I give you the beauty of trees
You give me huge tree cutting machines
I give you oxygen
You give me tree trunks

I give you cool places
You give me Global Warming
I give you the world
You give me nothing.

Water

Water is very useful for all human beings and animals. Wasting water is prohibited for everyone. Some uneducated people pollute the water by throwing garbage into the rivers. They also throw waste water from factories and wash vehicles and animals in rivers.
We use water mostly for farming and producing electricity. There are natural resources where we can get water from such as rivers, waterfalls, streams and lakes.

We Sri Lankans should be very thankful that we have abundant natural water resources, whereas in many other countries in the world such as the Middle East, they use salty water for their daily activities where it takes a big process to make it purified. Therefore it is our duty to use water very carefully and save for the future generations too.

My three dogs

I have three beautiful dogs. Their names are Taga, Pippa and Jenny. Jenny is the eldest dog. Taga and Pippa are brother and sister.
They all play together. Jenny is smaller than the other two dogs. Father brought her from the market when she was one month old. Now she is five years old. She has brown, black and white fur. She is very wise. She can run fast and open locks.

Taga is the biggest dog. He is very tall and fat. He has yellow and white fur. He can swim. He can run faster than Jenny. Father bought him when he was two months old. Now, he is one year and one month old. Pippa is the youngest dog. Father bought her when she was two months old. Pippa is a good swimmer. She can run fast too.

They are three lovely dogs. They are very wise and they play with me.
I love them very much.

Women’s Day

“The best way to predict the future is to mobilize the women of the world”. This was said by Sir Arthur Kingsley. A woman is the greatest treasure in the country, society and in the family. Every year, March 8 is a very special day for every woman in the world. Starting life as a daughter, a woman plays an important role as a wife, mother and employee.

Today most women go to work. They do 75% of work and are paid 25% of the world’s wages. Men perform 25% of work and are paid 75% of the world’s wages. Motherly love and affection is needed by every child in the world. Without a mother, a child cannot grow up. A woman as a mother constantly guides and protects her children. She is the one who does the household work, looks after the children and earns money.

A woman has a powerful sense of bearing every hardship. A child can tell everything to his or her mother because she has a good power of understanding and patience. Throughout the years women have achieved great things by developing leadership skills and with a great deal of courage. March 8 is a day to honour women for their courage, bravery and determination.
As Arnold Schwarzenegger once said, “A woman is always behind a successful human”.
