Former national badminton player Darshana Fernando, now a certified international coach took time off to assist young players with finer points of the game. Darshana who is domiciled in Canada conducted two professional training programmes for Althea International School in Colombo and Nakago College in Bandaragama. Darshana was joined by his deputy– younger daughter Piumika who is also a certified badminton coach. He has been involved in coaching in many countries such as USA, Costa Rica, Denmark, Czech Republic, Belgium, India, Guatemala, Panama, Cyprus and the United Kingdom.
He is a world class player in his age category and has recently won a Badminton World Federation sanctioned tournament in the USA. His academy has latest technology in badminton training which includes the shuttle shooter, shadow trainer and shuttle dispenser.
