STC Matara looking for cricketing resurgence

View(s):

Junior cricket in Matara has reached an all time low with all three schools in the district being eliminated in the first round of the Under 13 Division One tournament this year. It is said that this is the first time that a school from Matara did not qualify for the second round.

St. Thomas’ College Matara has taken this decline very seriously and conducted a soft ball cricket tournament among the fifth graders to identify talented youngsters. Prefect of Games Jagath Mathangadeera, Master in Charge of Cricket Sisira Weerasinghe together with cricket coach Charith Palliyage and Isuru Lokuge were at the Uyanwatta Stadium last Friday to pick out future cricketers for STC Matara.
