My favourite game

My favourite game is volleyball. During my school days in my former country Phillipines I always played volleyball and was a very good player. I played for my school team in Inter-House matches.

Since coming to Sri Lanka with my family, I have not played volleyball. I miss the game very much. During school matches in my former country, I have won many certificates for my contribution to volleyball.

Volleyball is a fascinating game. It keeps you busy all the time and it is so exciting when playing competitive matches. It holds the attention of the spectators supporting each team. It is also a game with a lot of team spirit and dedication to the game.

I hope that I will be able to play volleyball in my new school in Sri Lanka. I love the game so much.

A great personality of our time

Kalakeerthi Edwin Ariyadasa is a great person of my time. He is 96 years old but he remains physically fit. He lives with his sister and her children. Still he remains single.

He was educated at University of Ceylon where he obtained a Bachelor of A.B. degree. Now he is a well known journalist, broadcaster and public speaker. He can write and talk English and Sinhalese very well.
He also knows Pali and Sanskrit.

Edwin Ariyadasa has translated the Dhammapada into English and Sinhalese. It was published in Singapore. He is also a regular contributor to newspapers and magazines. At his age he has a very good memory. He is like a mobile encyclopedia. He can give the meaning of any word without referring to a dictionary. He sends his articles regularly to newspapers and magazines.

That’s not all he is also a visiting lecturer in journalism and media management at the University of Colombo. He worked as a consultant to the minister of Mahaweli Development. He edited the Navayugaya magazine for many years. He serves his motherland in many ways. That is the reason why I selected him as a great personality.

I wish him long life.
