Al Awwal School — Celebrating a Journey of Educational Excellence
View(s):Al Awwal School began its journey on 7th January 2013 as a preschool with just 7 children and 2 teachers in a humble space of 500 sq ft. The school expanded and in 2016 it proudly began its Primary Section with the introduction of Grade 1. Today, the School has grown into a well-established institution with around 200 students and 12 dedicated teachers.
The school was founded by Ms. F. Z. Mahir and is guided under the leadership of Principal Madam F. N. Hamza, a retired Government English Teacher and the Founder Principal of UNH International School, Wattala. With her vast knowledge, commitment, and years of experience, she continues to render a tremendous service towards the development and progress of the school.
We strongly believe that every child is unique. True learning happens only when each child is guided according to their individual intellectual level and capabilities. Therefore, we maintain small learning groups, ensuring that every child receives personalized attention and quality coaching from our qualified tutors.
Al Awwal School follows the National Curriculum while integrating authentic Islamic Education. English is used as the medium of instruction, while Sinhala, Tamil, and Arabic are also taught, enabling students to become confident multilingual learners. We are among the few schools in the region that successfully teach four languages in a friendly and supportive environment.
Along with academics, we ensure a balanced school life by organizing at least six extracurricular events annually, allowing students to develop confidence, leadership skills, and holistic growth.
Al Awwal School proudly conducts Swimming and Karate as part of its extracurricular programmes under the guidance of skilled and professional coaches.
