South Eastern University convocation produces 2,077 graduates
View(s):The 17th annual general convocation of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka was held recently at its main auditorium.
The convocation, which was held over two days, was presided over by Acting Vice Chancellor U L Majeed in the presence of President’s Counsel Dr Fais Mustapha.
A total of 2,077 students received their degrees in 6 sessions.
On the first day of the first session, Justice Yasantha Kodagoda of the High Court of Sri Lanka attended as chief guest. In the second session, Professor of Economics at the University of Kelaniya Dr Seetha P Bandara, and in the third session, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Sri Lanka Khalid Hamood Al-Qahtani, attended and addressed the gathering.
On the first day, 172 students from the Faculty of Applied Sciences, 82 students from the Faculty of Engineering, 102 students from the Faculty of Technology, 314 students from the Faculty of Arts and Culture and 342 students from the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language received their degrees.
The first session of the second day was attended by Vice Chairman of the University Grants Commission Senior Professor K L Wasantha Kumara, Professor of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Rajarata University Dr Manoj Samaratunga, and Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Jaffna Senior Professor R Velnambi in the third session.
On this occasion, 2,077 students, including 378 students from the Faculty of Management and Commerce, and 687 students from External Degree Students (FAC and FMC), received their degrees, said Acting Registrar M I Nauber.
