The Government has proposed the setting up of Cyber Crime protection teams in a fresh effort to minimise instances of children falling victim to Cyber Crime.
Under the proposed plan, some 1,000 teachers will be trained and deployed in the Provinces, to assist some 6,000 schools to set up teams to help students fight Cyber Crime, said Director of Information Communication Technology (ICT) Division of the Ministry of Education (MoE) P.N. Illapperuma.
The MoE will be working with Sri Lanka CERT and the Police Children & Women Bureau.

The team will be trained to guide them on Legal action, police action and also psychological support for student victims. The move comes in the wake of a number of cases where children have fallen victim to Cyber Crime. Investigations reveal that some students have fallen victim after being forced into Cyber Crime, while others who have fallen victim have not been able to obtain psychological support, thereby, seriously impacting on their lives.
