College of Chemical Sciences (CCS) hosts the 22nd award ceremony of the Australian National Chemistry Quiz Competition

The 25th of January 2019 marked an eventful day in the lives of all the students who excelled at the Australian National chemistry Quiz (ANCQ) competition held on the 30th of June last year. The award ceremony was held on the said day at the PPGL Siriwardane Auditorium and was graced by Mr. Gamini Gunasekara, Managing Director, Union Chemicals Lanka PLC as the Chief Guest. Out of the one hundred and sixty seven schools from which a total greater than ten thousand students participated, sixty five students from thirty three schools were recognized for their remarkable performance at the examination.

The ANCQ paper comprised thirty MCQ questions and those who managed to get them all correct were awarded full scholarships to follow the Graduateship in Chemistry (GIC) degree program at CCS. Ms. Umar Jiffry from Royal Institute International School, Ms. Aneesha Jude Jokimson from Chundikuli Balika Vidyalaya, Jaffna, Mr. Keshin Karunarathne from Gateway College, Katunayake, Mr. Ravindu Sanwara from Ananda College and Mr. Tharshikan Sivadasan from Jaffna Hindu College, Jaffna were the five students accomplished enough to be entitled for this privilege.
