The jubilant Lyceum Nugegoda Under-15 cricketers after their victory.

Lyceum International School Nugegoda beat Stafford International School to win the International Schools Under-15 Cricket Championship, played at Shalika grounds in Narahenpita recently.

Lyceum Nugegoda beat SIS by 38 runs after Avinash Perera came out with a superb bowling performance which helped them clinch the final. Electing to bat first, Lyceum Nugegoda posted 151 for the loss of seven wickets in 40 overs with Dihan Udugama top scoring with 48. Uvin Liyanapathirana contributed with a useful 22. SIS did not have everything their own way while chasing the moderate target as they were bowled out for 113 after facing 38.2 overs. Man-of-the-Final, Avinash Perera, spearheaded the comprehensive Lyceum win with three wickets for 18 while Akila Ranawaka claimed two for 14. Before meeting SIS in the final, Lyceum Nugegoda beat Asian International School, British International School, Leighton Park and Royal Institute on their way. Dilshan Udugampola was adjudged the best fielder of the tournament while the best bowler of the tournament award was won by Sasika Ratnathilake. – NA
