Saman Pushpakumara of Pushpadana MV Ambatenna Kandy with a timing of 59 minutes, 25 secs won the 18 kilometer road race for boys organized and conducted by the Central Province Education Department together with the Nuwara Eliya District Athletic Association for the U.G. Muthubanda Challenge Trophy.

M.I.M. Tilakasiri from Mahinda Rajapaksa Navodaya MV, Kureewala, Matale finished second while A.P. Murapalalawatte of St. Sylvester’s College, Kandy was placed third. In the 8 km race for girls Dulanjali Sandamali Amarasooriya from Sri Rahula College Katugastota clocked 34 mts, 8 secs to emerge the winner while Y.G. Lasanthika Dilrukshi of Doragala MV Kotmale finished second followed by H.M.V. Seneviratne of Sri Rahula College, Katugastota in third place.
