Old Senanayakians Sports Club posted a 1-0 win over Kotalawela Defence University in their men’s Pioneer Hockey fixture at the Malay grounds recently. At the short whistle neither side had been able to penetrate the others defence. It was only in the 44th minute of play that the deadlock was broken with a field goal when left inside T. Geeganage worked the ball past the KDU defenders and centre half A. Rahuman did the needful to put Old Senanayakians one up and seal victory.

The game was controlled by Sathish Kumar and Maithree Vithana, while H.L. Mithtrapala was the third umpire.
CH and FC ‘B’ beat Royal SC 3-1. CH and FC ‘B’ defeated Royal SC by three goals to one in a Pioneer Shield hockey fixture at the Colombo Campus ground recently. At half time the Maitland Crescent Club led 2-0. In the 18th minute of play, P. Heenkenda converted a penalty corner to give CG and FC ‘B’ the first goal of the game and two minutes later, right inside Suren Wijeratne made it 2-0 with a field goal.

After the turn around, Dharshana Wijesinghe the centre half got his act together to give Colts their third goal. The final goal of the day was scored in the 49th minute when Royal SC were awarded a penalty corner which was goaled by S. Jayawardena. The match was refereed by Satish Kumar and Maithri Vithana, while H.L. Mithrapala was the third umpire. (BM)
