UGC and Griffith University Launch Joint PhD Funding Programme
View(s):The University Grants Commission (UGC) and Griffith University, Australia have established a joint funding programme to allow suitably qualified, UGC supported candidates to enroll in the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme at Griffith University each year.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two parties, Griffith University will cover the full cost of tuition fees for a period of up to three years while within the limits approved by the UGC for Australia. UGC will provide candidates with a living stipend for a period of three years. As a partial Griffith University Postgraduate Research Scholarship to provide a living stipend (AUD 15,000 pa) Griffith will provide up to six International Postgraduate Research Scholarships for 2026. Further the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) will have to be borne by the candidate.
Candidates who are permanently appointed academic staff members of universities and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) under the UGC and who are eligible to apply for paid study leave for higher studies are eligible to apply for the above scholarship programme. Any field of study is accepted for PhD application.
The expected time for the commencement of the programme will be June 2026.
