Degree programmes commences in Sri Lanka at GISM
Massey University New Zealand

Among the factors which influence the development of our country "quality education and research" are the most important areas we need to consider with highest priority. Many of the nations in the world that have been developed socially, culturally and economically have used modern research and development techniques to find solutions to engineering and other associated problems.

As a result of the open invitation made by President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Prof. Dr. Senaratne is one of the professionals who returned home from New Zealand to support the development of the country. Professor Senaratne has a long history of experience in both industry and academia. His expertise and research publications are widespread having international recognition specifically for his work on "Early Detection of Breast Cancer" - Microwave signal processing for foreign object detection. He is a former faculty member of the Massey University, New Zealand.

Develop Sri Lanka
"The new-age requirement is for innovation and finding new technologies to improve our country's progress towards development. This includes problems we encounter in our day to day lives. I have returned home to develop our country. Our students in the Graduate Institute of Science and Management (GISM) at both Graduate and Postgraduate levels as well as in Research fields will be stimulated to acquire intellectual energy useful for the progress of our nation," says Professor Dr. Senaratne.

Massey University collaboration
GISM that provides quality education in undergraduate and postgraduate level is an institution with whom the world high ranking and defining Massey University, New Zealand has recently signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Thus, the collaboration established between two parties provides students a pathway to Massey University, conducting researches, exchanging the staff and many more.

Course programmes
GISM conducts Massey pathway programmes for Computer Sciences, IT, Software Engineering and Business Studies degrees. Chairman of the GISM Campus, Prof. Dr. G. G. Senaratne explained that the advantages offered to students who register and enrol for the Massey University Degree programmes at the GISM City Campus in Udahamulla, Nugegoda are many. He noted that parents were attracted by the substantial amount of hard-currency savings in the first year at GISM. Also, there are opportunities for Massey graduates to obtain further training and subsequently, to be qualified to apply for Permanent Residence.

Solutions to Problems of O/L and A/L holders
To help the students who have O/L and A/L qualifications, GISM offers diploma courses. These courses have been carefully designed so that, at the end of the programme the student can either continue studies for the higher diploma or work in the industry of his/her choice. In addition the Institution provides a number of programmes in the fields of IT, Electronics, Electrical and Communication Engineering and Business & Management including English, French and other languages.

GISM wishes to promote Research and Consultancy services in Sri Lanka through its Research and Consultancy Centre. The forum for this venture consists of both local and International researchers, Scientists and academic personnel as one of the main resources. The GISM expects the talented professionals to rally around this research group - a message to professionals.

Hence, GISM expects institutions, industries and other organizations in both public and the private sector to consult GISM research group to identify their research needs and help for solving problems in order to gain productivity - a message to those who will be benefited.
