Karuna supporter shot dead

A TMVP cadre, known to be a Karuna supporter, was shot dead by an unidentified person at Kaluwanchikudy in Batticaloa last evening, police said.

The victim was identified as Thiruchelvam Rajendran, a liquor shop owner. The assailants had also shot at a friend of Mr. Rajendran, who was with him at the time.

The friend had escaped by jumping off a wall with the bullet injuries, the police said.
