A former Sri Lankan top ranked tennis player, Ravi Subramaniam bids adieu to Sri Lanka when he takes wings to down under at the end

of this month. Ravi a former Sri Lanka’s Junior under 18 No.1 in 1977 and No.4 in the Men’s competitions in 1977 and 1978 has won several major titles around the country. He still continues to win the veterans events whenever he takes part. He had the distinction of wining the Travel Trade Tennis singles title on 25 occassions of which 24 years were won consecutively. He also has won the Men’s Doubles title on several occasions.

In the first ever Mercantile Tennis Tournament Ravi became the runner-up in both the Men’s singles and Doubles. Subsequently in the following years of the Mercantile Tennis Tournament Ravi won the Men’s Doubles, Over 35 Singles and Doubles, Over 45 Singles and Doubles.

Ravi is an old boy of Royal College and had a distinguished career in college. He was the College Tennis Captain in 1977, Hartley House Captain and the Deputy Head Prefect. Ravi joined Aitken Spence Travels Ltd., in 1979 as a Trainee Executive and rose to the position of Director/Chief Operating Officer and served the Company for 34 years.

Ravi is a well respected personality in the Travel industry and has served in many travel related associations. Ravi also serves as a Director in several subsidiaries of Aitken Spence PLC. He will be joining his family in Brisbane who migrated in January 2008.
