second time at the Royal Colombo Golf Club in Colombo on Friday. He made 78, 73 and 82 in the respective days to complete with a total aggregate gross score of 233 while taking the win by 11 shots.

However tight play was evident for the runner-up position on the final day of play between last year’s Silver Division winner Zaffar Sikkandar and lesser known Chalitha Pushpika. However Pushpika won the battle to emerge runner-up of the championship by 5 shots as Sikkandar finished third.

De Silva also won his age group category, the Gold division, for golfers of the age group of 15 to 17 years, with Pushpika finishing as the runner-up with total score 244. First runner-up R.L. Illeirajah grossed 270 while Shamani Jagoda, the only girl golfer to finish among the top five in the tournament finished at fourth.

In the Silver Division, for golfers between the ages of 11 and 14 years, Prashan Peiris of St. Thomas Prep played brilliant golf over three days (76, 77 and 72) to win the title against Ishira Fernando (83, 83 and 82) who

played equally well. G. Dhanaranjan of Kandy finished at third with total score of 281 and in fourth place was Armand Flamer Caldera with 289.

USA based Nigel Fernando won the Bronze Division conducted for the 10+ and below age group category of the competition after two days of play on Thursday. Fernando made 45 and 47, the best on pars on both days as he sparkled all the way to clinch the win playing consistent golf over 2 rounds with a total score of 92. C.D.M. Hirushan finished at second with a total score of 98. Both Kiran Muthukrishna and Arvind Hidramani came third after having the same aggregate score of 106. The three-day Sri Lanka Junior golf Championship was sponsored by Prima Sunrise Bread and organized by the Sri Lanka Golf Union. – NA
