Irish pop group Westlife have got back together and took to social media to confirm their reunion. They will release new music and undertake a tour soon. There are some reports which suggest Ed Sheeran has written four new songs for the group. Westlife was formed in 1998 and was active until 2012. They scored 14 No: 1 songs in the UK most of which were cover versions. Their first No:1 song was ‘Swear It Again’ in 1999 and the last was ‘Against All Odds’ with Mariah Carey in 2010. Westlife have sold over 40 million albums and 55 million singles worldwide. Although the group has reunited Brain McFadden the original lead singer who quit the group in 2004 will not be part of the reunion. The group comprises Nicky Byrne, Shane Filan, Kian Egan and Mark Feehily.

Ed Sheeran released his Ed Sheeran Ltd financial records over the weekend which indicated the 27 year old musician had a turnover of over £36 million with a gross profit of over £27 million. His tax bill was £5 million. Sheeran had the bestselling global album in 2017 as ‘÷ ‘(divide) went platinum in 36 countries and was winner of the Global Recording Artist of the Year by the IFPI.

Tickets for the world famous Glastonbury music festival in England, to be held between June 26 and 30 were sold out in 36 minutes on October 7. A re sale will take place in April.

Dua Lipa has denied rumours that she is recording the next James Bond theme song. But in a press report published on 3rd October the 23 year old pop star added she would love to do it if the rumours were true. The singer is also reported to be working on her second album which could be released next year.

The UK singles chart top 10 has had a lot of activity this week as four songs have moved upward while three new songs have made their way too. Fending off competition and perched at the top spot for a fifth week is Calvin Harris and Sam Smith’s whopper ‘Promises’. The song had combined 12,000 in sales to hold the No:1 position.

Meanwhile Rita Ora’s ‘Let You Love Me’ crossed over to higher ground from 14 to No: 6 to give the singer her 13th combined top UK hit song. She is the female British artist with the most number of top 10 hit songs a record previously held jointly by Dame Shirley Bassey and Petula Clark. Ora broke the record after 30 years. Her new single ‘Let You Love Me’ is the fourth release from her upcoming album ‘Phoenix’.

Making her debut on the UK top 10 chart is Freya Ridings whose ‘Lost Without You’ has taken a big leap on the UK singles chart from 20 to No: 9. The emotional ballad has been striking a chord ever since it came out and has been a grower over 12 weeks since it debuted on the chart at No: 72. The 24 year old Londoner has no studio albums as yet, penned the hit track.
