Following the tradition of passion play which depicts the life, sorrowful death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, villagers of Eththukale, Negombo enacted a play this year for the seventh occasion.  Produced by welknown playwright Clement Fernando, the passion play started in 1998 was enacted with the participation of a cast and crew of over 200 villagers from Eththukala.

Among the main cast Joseph Croos played Jesus Christ, Shiromi Birose- Mother Mary, Sylvester Miranda-Peter, Hakman Myraal-Judas, Jute Kurera- John, Calystus Miranda-Jacob, Melmon Myraal-Mary Magdalene, Sandra Mirandaa-Veronica, Earl Croos-Pilot, Jude Croos-Caiaphas and Christopher Miranda-Simon of Cyrene-.

The passion play was performed on Good Friday at St. Sylvester Church ground under the guidance of Parish priest Rev. Fr. Terrance Bodiyabaduge and assistant Rev. Fr. Christopher Perera.
