Sharmal Dissanayake gritted through to a hard-earned 6-4, 6-3 win over Chien Hsun Lo of Taipei to clinch the 47th Brunei ITF Junior

Sharmal Dissanayake in action

Circuit boys’ singles final, which was worked off from March 12 to 17 in Brunei.

In the first round of the competition, Dissanayake overcame Corneill Sppen of Malayasia 6-1, 6-0, before moving on to record another easy victory in the second round, defeating Panji Untung Setiawan of Indonesia 6-1, 6-0.

The third round was a tougher proposition for Sharmal but he nevertheless succeeded in overcoming Laurent Mailloux of Canada 6-2, 7-5 to book a spot in the quarter-finals.

In the quarter-final Sharmal beat Yong Jie Issac Ong of Singapore 6-3, 6-0 to enter the semis, where he triumphed over Indonesia’s Nuradim Ramdani 6-2, 6-0.
