Audio Squad flying high

Popular band ‘Audio Squad’ is the latest group of talented musicians to bang in to the Sri Lankan music scene. Merely one year and ten months old ‘Audio Squad’ has gained popularity in the music scene with their performing style on stage.
Caming together in March 2011 with a blend of music covering the retro of 60s, 70s, 80s 90’s to modern day contemporary music, band hit the high note from the very beginning.
They perform lot of cover versions mixing with their style, which brought them into limelight of the Sri Lankan music Scene.
Led by talented guitarist and singer Janaka Vithanage, the band has now become the most sought after entertainment provider for some of the popular night clubs, Corporate events, dinner dances, unplugged performances, weddings and foreign tours.
‘Audio Squad’ comprises of leader Janaka on guitar and vocals, Dihan Kularathne on guitar and vocals, Nisala Perera on drums and vocals, Nalin Chanaka on Bass and vocals and Rayan Mendis on Keyboards and vocals
‘We play lot of cover versions from popular band with our style. Our repertoire covers retro to current hit songs such as from Toto, Fleetwood Mac, Chicago, Real thing, Stevie Wonder, Dr. Hook, Black Eyedpeas, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Presley, Commodores, Tom Jones, Scorpions, Led Zeppelin and Maroon 5, Bryan Adams, De Barge to name a few.
Leader Janaka was previously with the bands ‘Souled Out’ ‘Damage’ (performed with them at ‘Marcopolo’ in Dubai for two years). Also he was with ‘Summerset’, ‘Clear Water’ and Saga.
A new introduction to the band Dihan is a versatile musician capable of playing guitar, bass and drums. Dihan also plays classical guitar and is a talented vocalist. 23 years old Nisala is also a capable vocalist and an energetic drummer.
Bassist Nalin is a versatile musician, capable of playing keyboards and Piano. Yengest member on the group Rayan Mendis is a versatile musician and a brilliant pianist.
Following in his father’s footsteps( Raja Mendis), Rayan contributes to the band with keyboards, guitar and vocals specially, while handling the Audio Squad band studio (Jay’s Studio) recordings.
‘Audio Squad’ come alive every Friday at the popular ‘Rhythm and Blues’ Club. CR & FC, Margarita Blue at galadari, Colombo Swimming Club are the other main performing venues of the band.
