78 percent of undergrads lack exercises

Physical Education is a must for all undergraduate to gear the university students to be fit to go through their University career in studies and sports.

Now authorities are working out the details of this exercise which will devote 45 minutes daily morning and evening and is compulsorily for all students.

Their training will comprise walking (40 mts) Yoga, Ridma Gymnastic , swimming and tread-mil exercises. The training program will be held as follows 6.00am to – 6.40am, 6.45 am – 7.15am Evening training will be from 5.30pm – 6.15pm and 6.15pm – 7.00pm.

Director-General, Sports and skills of Higher Education Ministry Mr. Sunil Gunawardena said a study had revealed that 78 percent of the undergrads do not even have any walking exercise at all. The new training programme, therefore will give them sufficient exercise to keep their strong and health and provide their fitness to go through their strenuous education.
