Pearson Lanka plans to hire 150 IT engineers in 2013View(s):
Pearson Lanka (formerly eCollege Lanka), providing software development and remote infrastructure management services to multiple technology groups across its parent, Pearson PLC plans to hire some 150 IT engineers by next year, officials said.
Nalina Wijesundara, General Manager and Director Pearson Lanka told the Business Times that their rebranding will aid the impending recruitment drive as the company plans its expansions within the country. “We are going to bring in about 150 more staff members – especially IT engineers by next year,” he added.
Mr. Wijesundara said that the rebranding will make Pearson more noticeable in the marketplace among the stakeholder group and it will help their expansion plans. With this development Pearson Lanka will look to attract technical talent for its Sri Lanka operations and also explore local business opportunities that might exist, as part of the larger plan to grow operations in the country, he added.
Vance Allen, SVP Core Platforms and Director of Pearson Lanka, in a media statement issued by the company said, “Thisventure began seven years ago and has now become one of our most amazing success stories. Code written in Sri Lanka has helped millions of students learn across the globe.
We are pleased with this name change. It reflects Sri Lanka’s growing role across Pearson”.
Its 160-member team based out of the Colombo office at Orion City is a core part of Pearson’s global Learning Technologies organization, and services technology teams across North America, Europe and Australia, the statement added.
