Inter-International Schools basketball begins tomorrow

The tenth Inter-International Schools Under-19 Basketball Tournament is scheduled to kick off from November 7 at the British School premises in Colombo. The tournament which will be held at the indoor and outdoor basketball courts will have separate categories for boys and girls.

Twenty teams will take part in the tournament which begins tomorrow (Monday 7) will end on November 18. Out of the total 13 teams have been grouped into four while seven teams will vie in the girls segment in two groups.

In the boys segment the Group A includes Colombo International School, hosts British School and Elizabeth Moir while Lyceum International Nugegoda, Leighton Park and Royal Institute Colombo and OKI International School are in Group B.

The Group C has Alethea International School, Colombo International School Kandy and Gateway International Colombo while in the Group D Lyceum International Wattala, Gateway International Kandy and Asian International Colombo will battle out for honours.

The top two teams of each group will advance to the quarterfinals segment while the tournament will continue in a knockout basis until the final on November 18.

In the girls groupings Gateway Colombo, Gateway Kandy and British School are in the A while Asian International School, Overseas School of Colombo, Lyceum International School Nugegoda and Elizabeth Moir are in B.

The top two teams of each group will straightaway advance to the semifinal stage. Six matches each have been scheduled for November 7 and 8 in both categories beginnings from 3.00 p.m. on each day.
Play offs of both segments are scheduled for November 17 while the finals are scheduled for November 18.
