“CINEC Campus and Trent University create Global 2+2 Pathway in Logistics & Supply-Chain Management”
View(s):
In a groundbreaking collaboration that strengthens Transnational Education (TNE) efforts of Sri Lanka to offer world-class education, CINEC Campus has established with Trent University, one of Canada’s leading public universities, to launch a 2+2 articulation programme in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. This partnership allows students to complete the first two years of the Bachelor of Management (Honours) in Supply Chain Management or some selected modules of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Logistics and Transportation at CINEC in Sri Lanka, before transferring to Trent University in Ontario, Canada, to complete the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Logistics and Supply Chain Management during their third and fourth years.
With thirty-five years of academic excellence, CINEC has earned national recognition and awards for Education Services. The campus offers more than 200 programs across disciplines such as Management, Maritime Studies, Engineering, and Information Technology. Located in Malabe, CINEC Campus stands as Sri Lanka’s largest and most diversified non-state higher education institution, recognized as a pioneer in the fields of Logistics, Supply Chain Management, and Maritime Education. Demonstrating its national impact, CINEC has played a pivotal role in the establishment of National Logistics Day and National Seafarers Day in Sri Lanka, as well as in introducing Logistics education into the school curriculum—a milestone achievement aligned with its innovative educational philosophy, “Education Vertical Integration.” The first ever textbooks on Logistics and Shipping were published by CINEC.
In keeping with this vision, CINEC now offers a 2+2 joint degree programme that enables Sri Lankan students to earn a globally respected qualification from two of the world’s leading universities specialising in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. This unique initiative not only enhances academic excellence but also strengthens Sri Lanka’s position as a regional hub for logistics education and professional development.
The Faculty of Management and Social Sciences at CINEC delivers internationally recognized degree programmes, including Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Logistics and Transportation and Bachelor of Management (Honours) in Supply Chain Management, a UGC-approved degree that emphasizes practical industry training, sustainability, logistics operations, procurement, and strategic management. This degree has been designed to prepare students for leadership roles in one of the world’s fastest-growing business sectors. CINEC’s teaching approach combines academic rigor with industry relevance, ensuring that graduates are equipped with the analytical and technical skills required for the global supply chain and logistics industry.
Meanwhile, Trent University in Ontario, Canada, is ranked among the Top 10 primarily undergraduate universities in Canada and is widely recognized for its academic innovation, research excellence, and student-focused learning environment. Located in Ontario, Trent operates two campuses — the main campus in Peterborough and the Durham GTA campus in Oshawa, where the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Logistics and Supply Chain Management is offered. The program is described as “the only undergraduate degree of its kind in Canada” due to their integrated management, operations, and analytics with a strong focus on sustainability and innovation.
The Durham GTA campus’s proximity to major logistics hubs also provides valuable internship and employment opportunities within the Greater Toronto Area, one of North America’s most dynamic economic regions. Trent’s Durham campus boasts strong credentials: small-group classes, a robust student-to-faculty ratio, and a vibrant urban setting in the Greater Toronto Area. For students seeking a truly international honors degree in logistics and supply-chain management, Trent offers applied learning, hands-on career connections and high employability prospects.
Moving on to this new 2+2 programme, it bridges two powerful learning environments — giving Sri Lankan students the opportunity to begin their studies at home and complete an internationally recognized Canadian degree abroad.
During the first two years, students will complete 14 modules at CINEC Campus under the Bachelor of Management (Honours) in Supply Chain Management or Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Logistics and Transportation. Upon successful completion and meeting admission requirements, students will receive a conditional offer from Trent University to join the third year of the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Logistics and Supply Chain Management in Canada. Trent University’s Admissions Office will assess all applications and allocate appropriate transfer credits. Additionally, visa and documentation procedures will be managed by an authorized agent, subject to completing the IELTS requirement as per normal terms.
