CA Sri Lanka’s SAB Campus welcomes over 100 new students for Applied Accounting and Business Analytics degrees

The SAB Campus of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) recently inaugurated Intake 19C of the BSc. (Hons) in Applied Accounting and Intake 3C of the B. Mgt. (Hons) in Business Analytics at a ceremony held in October at the CA Sri Lanka Auditorium. The event marked the participation of over 100 students, reflecting the growing demand for these globally recognised degree programmes.
Applications for both degree programmes are still open until mid-November, providing an excellent opportunity for students who have completed their GCE A/L examinations to enrol in qualifications that combine academic excellence with practical experience.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Heshana Kuruppu, President of CA Sri Lanka, spoke about the career prospects beyond numbers and data offered by both the Applied Accounting and Business Analytics degrees. He emphasised the importance of combining technical knowledge with professional qualifications, soft skills, and personality development to climb the corporate ladder. Highlighting the role of networking, he said, “These degrees are designed to produce future-ready graduates who combine technical expertise with leadership skills and global exposure. Our alumni and member base play a vital role in helping students succeed in diverse industries and international markets.”
The inauguration also featured the awarding of 14 scholarships to students who achieved 3A passes at the GCE A/L examination and demonstrated exceptional performance in extra-curricular activities and sports.
The BSc. (Hons) in Applied Accounting is an academic programme that equips students with a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, financial management, and business operations. It is ideal for those aspiring to careers in accounting, finance, and business management. The curriculum blends theoretical knowledge with practical skills, including a two-year built-in internship, and offers pathways to professional certifications such as CA Sri Lanka, ACCA, CIMA, and AAT with exemptions. Graduates can pursue careers as Chartered Accountants, Management Accountants, Tax Consultants, Internal Auditors, Financial Analysts, and professionals in banking and financial services.
The B. Mgt. (Hons) in Business Analytics prepares students for careers that combine business management with data analytics. The programme trains students to use advanced tools such as Excel, R, Python, and Tableau to analyse complex data and support strategic decision-making. With an industry-relevant curriculum, practical projects, and internships, graduates are well-positioned for roles such as Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Business Intelligence Analyst, Marketing Analyst, and Risk Analyst.
SAB Campus currently boasts a student population of over 2,000, with more than 3,000 graduates to date. Of the current enrolment, 1,700 students are pursuing the Applied Accounting degree, while 300 students are enrolled in Business Analytics degree, reflecting the strong interest in both degree programmes.
