Sri Lanka Institute of Textile and Apparel to offer degrees
View(s):The Sri Lanka Institute of Textile and Apparel, established by the Sri Lanka Institute of Textile and Apparel Act, in Ratmalana has been recognised as a degree awarding institute.
The relevant Gazette notification has been issued by Education/Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya.
The institute will be able to admit students for the Bachelor of Science in Textile and Apparel Studies BSc degree programme. The minimum entry qualification will be at least three (3) simple passes (S) in any stream in one and the same sitting at the GCE Advanced Level Examination conducted by the Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka, or equivalent qualification, and at least Credit (C) pass in Mathematics and Science not exceeding two sittings in the GCE Ordinary Level Examination or equivalent qualification.
The degree programme is subject to a review every five years.
