CINEC Campus Marks 35 Years of Engineering Education Excellence

Established in 1990, CINEC Campus, with a proven track record spanning 35 years, continues to play a leading role in delivering high-quality national and international education. Faculty of Engineering and Technology of CIENC Campus has produced thousands of skilled engineers and professionals addressing the growing demands of the global job market.
The faculty currently provides theoretical and practical education to over 1,500 students, supported by a team of approximately 60+ permanent academic and non-academic staff. CINEC offers five engineering degree programmes approved by the Ministry of Higher Education of Sri Lanka: Automotive Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Mechatronics Engineering. These are four-year full-time degree programmes available locally.
Additionally, CINEC collaborates with the UK-based high ranking Anglia Ruskin University to offer internationally recognised three-year degree programmes in the fields of Civil, Automotive, Mechanical, Electronic & Electrical and Mechatronics & Robotics Engineering providing students with multiple academic pathways.
CINEC, in collaboration with Anglia Ruskin University, has also introduced five postgraduate engineering (MSc) programmes in the fields of Automotive, Construction Project Management, Electronic and Electrical, Mechanical, and Automation and Robotics engineering, offering Sri Lankan students the opportunity to pursue advanced studies in these disciplines.
CINEC Campus has introduced a scholarship scheme for students selected for the Ministry of Higher Education–approved Bachelor of Science (BSc) Engineering degree programme, offering scholarships valued at Rs. 600,000 for students who have obtained an ‘A’ grade in A/L Physical Science stream, Rs. 400,000 for a ‘B’ grade, and Rs. 200,000 for a ‘C’ grade.
To qualify for the four-year UGC-approved degrees, students must have passed all A/L subjects with at least two credits (C ) in the Physical Science stream. For the three-year UK degrees, students must have passed three subjects in any science stream, physical Science, Biological Science or Technology stream.
CINEC also offers access pathways for students who do not meet A/L university entrance requirements. Through a partnership with Pearson, the campus provides four Higher National Diploma programmes. Students with two passes in the Physical Science stream or two credit passes in the technology stream may apply. Additionally, those who have not passed A/Ls but hold five Ordinary Level credit passes including English, Mathematics, and Science may complete the Engineering Foundation Programme, qualifying them to pursue a UK degree from Anglia Ruskin University.
All degree programmes include a six-month industrial training component, ensuring that students graduate with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience. CINEC’s “Beyond a Graduate” programme further supports soft skills development to enhance career readiness. As a result, work-ready graduates are well-positioned to transition into professional Engineers with confidence.
To support practical learning, CINEC gives importance to research work and maintains strong partnerships with leading industry organisations, offering students direct access to real-world training environments and career opportunities.
Students in their first two years of study in the degree programmes also have the option of transferring to the Adelaide University in Australia to complete their degrees. This transfer opportunity comes with eligibility for professional engineering accreditation in Australia and the potential to apply for work permit in South Australia for up to five years.
Students who sat for A/L’s in the physical science, biology or technology streams but did not gain admission to state universities now have a clear pathway to make their engineering dreams come true, through CINEC’s Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
