Central Bank, Pera Uni sign MoU to partner in statistics, data science
View(s):The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) and the University of Peradeniya signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) marking the start of a partnership aimed at enhancing research, education, and capacity building in statistics, data science, artificial intelligence, and related disciplines.
The MoU was initiated by the CBSL Statistics Department and the university’s Department of Statistics and Computer Science, Faculty of Science. It outlines collaboration in research, capacity building, internships and training, curriculum development, student projects, staff development, and data sharing.
Central Bank Governor Dr Nandalal Weerasinghe emphasised the importance of linking academic expertise with national policymaking.
“This partnership creates a platform for knowledge exchange and applied research that directly supports the country’s economic goals,” he said.
Representatives from both institutions were present on the occasion.
