CINEC Campus Faculty of Health Sciences: Empowering Career Dreams with 35 Years of Excellence
View(s):
Celebrating 35 years of academic leadership, CINEC Campus invites aspiring students to take their first steps towards a fulfilling healthcare career through its pioneering Faculty of Health Sciences.
Established in 1990, CINEC has earned a reputation for producing highly skilled graduates equipped to thrive in global industries. Over the years, the campus has helped thousands of Sri Lankan youth access rewarding local and international employment opportunities across diverse fields.
Recognising the growing demand for skilled professionals in the healthcare sector, CINEC launched Sri Lanka’s first non-state Faculty of Health Sciences five years ago. Comprising departments in Biomedical Sciences, Industrial Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Cosmetic Science, the faculty has rapidly become a key contributor to both national and global healthcare education.
Headed by Senior Professor Dr. Lakshmi Manik Hettihewa, the faculty is distinguished by its inclusive admission criteria—students with just three passes in the GCE A/Ls in science streams (Biology, Biotechnology, Mathematics) are eligible to pursue degree-level education in their area of interest, under the guidance of an expert academic panel.
One of the most sought-after programmes at the faculty is the BSc in Industrial Pharmaceutical Sciences, designed to produce industry-ready scientists equipped with knowledge spanning drug development, production, and commercialisation. Strategic partnerships with leading pharmaceutical manufacturers in Sri Lanka ensure students receive hands-on training and pathways to employment.
Another flagship degree programme conducted by the Department of Health Sciences is in Cosmetic Science. This programme distinguishes itself by focusing not only on beauty and personal care products but on the entire value chain, from formulation to commercialisation. Its primary objective is to produce graduates with expertise across product development, manufacturing, regulatory compliance, and marketing.
The field offers strong employment potential both locally and internationally, and all graduates from this programme have already secured placements within the industry. To further strengthen employment pathways, a strategic partnership has also been established with Sunshine Holdings PLC.
The BSc in Biomedical Science has also emerged as a popular choice among students. Within just five years, nine student cohorts have enrolled—underscoring the programme’s growing appeal and relevance in today’s medical and research sectors.
To broaden access, CINEC offers students with two A/L passes the opportunity to enroll in a two-year Advanced Diploma pathway, which leads directly to a full degree qualification. This alternative route is particularly beneficial for students seeking a gradual progression into higher education.
CINEC Campus is a member of the World University Consortium, enabling students to pursue part of their degree in Sri Lanka and transfer to international institutions for the remainder. Notably, eligible students can transfer to the University of South Australia in Adelaide, Australia after completing the first two years of study locally.

In collaboration with Anglia Ruskin University in UK, CINEC Campus has initiated a nursing degree programme designed to enhance the professional qualifications of practicing nurses in government hospitals. This partnership enables eligible students to progress toward completing their final year at Anglia Ruskin University, providing a streamlined academic pathway to an internationally recognised qualification. Additionally, CINEC is set to launch Master’s degree programmes in Clinical Nursing and Mental Health starting in September, further expanding its postgraduate offerings in healthcare education.
In addition, the faculty offers government-approved postgraduate qualifications at affordable rates—ensuring graduates have access to continued learning and career progression.
With several new programmes launching soon, CINEC
