Boys from D.S. Senanayake College, Colombo dominated the Aerobic individual event in the under-15 age category at the Gymnastic/Aerobic competition at the National Schools Games that began at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium yesterday.

The individual event that is synchronized to the tune of music saw Anushka Heshan Dias take first place in the Aerobic event that is introduced for the first time. Nirmal Aravindu also of the same school finished in second spot with a graceful performance on the floor.

Romesh Maduranga Fernando of Roman Catholic College, Kalpitiya was placed third with a spectacular performance. This event was competed by about fifteen contestants that turned up with great enthusiasm.

The other events to be worked out in Aerobics are the duel and foursomes that is certain to arouse much spectator interest. Gymnastic event saw one event being completed in the morning. The under-17 boys took to the floor with about fifteen boys competing with each other.

This event was won by T.A.D. Wickremasekera of St. Servatius College, Matara with 12 points. He made the least number of mistakes and though not perfect was exciting. Pramodhya Gunasekera of Ananda College finished second with 11.75 points. He too performed well but the little mistakes he made kept him narrowly away from the leader.

Ravindu Herath of Sir John Kotalawela MV, Kurunegala, finished third with 11.3 points. The difference between the competitors was so narrow that it made it difficult for the judges to offer the points.
The other events to be worked out are the parallel bars, beams, uneven bars and ring exercises.
