Unknown Leos stun confident Sebs

Under 23 Division Two Final

Right arm seam operators Dushmantha Chameera and Vikum Sanjaya put Leo CC on course at the end of the second day’s play in their Under 23 Division Two final encounter against Sebastianites played at the SSC ground.

The pair ran riot sharing all ten wickets between them to bundle the hapless Sebastianites to a meager 115. Sebastianites resuming from their overnight score of 62 for 5 found the duo too hot to handle with none of their batsmen being able to come to terms.

Dushmantha who had taken three scalps on day one added another two to end with impressive figures of 5 for 37 while his partner Vikum ended with figures of 5 for 45. The opening day’s play saw Leo CC skipper Indika Massalage winning the toss and electing to take first lease post up a formidable score of 270. They recovered after and early setback where they lost two wickets with just 14 runs on the board.

The recovery act came on the back of an 87 runs stand for the third wicket between Ashan Rusiru who made a top score of 60 and Jehan Javed who chipped in with 36. Later in the innings Maduka Harshana made an unbeaten 51 which helped them to pile up a respectable score. Leo CC Negombo by virtue of their first inning lead is now assured of the title and batting the second time ended on 191 for 4.

They now have a healthy lead of 346 runs with six wickets remaining with the final day of play today.
