IQA Wisdom Quiz 2013 – on September 14

With less than a week to go for the big quiz challenge many leading Sri Lankan quizzers have already booked their places to take part in the IQA Wisdom 2013 Quiz to be conducted by the International Quizzing Association (IQA) Sri Lanka branch at Kingsbury Colombo on Saturday 14th September commencing at 3 pm.
This is the eighth consecutive year for this very popular “Wisdom Quiz” which is considered as the leading table quiz event in Sri Lanka where teams of 5 members each compete for honours.
The ever-growing popularity of the event is evident from the increasing number of teams that have taken part in this contest year after year for the past 07 years. Last year’s Wisdom Quiz recorded the highest number of teams so far ( 46 ) and in keeping with the increasing trend over the years, IQA Sri Lanka envisages over 50 teams would take part this time.
The Quiz will be open to Schools/ educational institutes, Mercantile firms / state organisations,, Banks & financial institutions and teams formed by independent groups of individuals.
A cash prize of Rs 100,000/- will be on offer for the winners of IQA Wisdom 2013 in addition to the IQA Wisdom Trophy. The runners-up will receive Rs 50,000/= and a trophy. The 3rd 4th and 5th placed teams will be awarded cash prizes of Rs 30,000/=, Rs 25,000/= and Rs 20,000/= respectively while the top teams from each of the four team categories will also receive sector trophies.
Questions for the quiz based on 5 areas – Current Affairs, Sports and Games, Science ( including Space & Astronomy) , History/ Arts/Literature & Entertainment and General Knowledge will be compiled by Ruwan Senanayake, Sri Lanka’s representative of the International Quizzing Association.
The high standard of his questions and the manner in which he makes them very interesting, with visuals, video clips and movie clips – has made the Wisdom Quiz, very popular among the participants as well as those who come to witness it.

The registration fee is Rs 15,000/= per team and IQA will extend a special concessionary registration fee of Rs 8,000/- for school teams in a bid to encourage the younger stars of the future on this mind challenging initiative.
