Student Testimonial Why did you decide to study at Northshore College?
View(s):Well, for as long as I can remember, becoming an Engineer has been my passion! So when it came to considering my future career I knew what I wanted. But on the other hand when it came to choosing where I wanted to do my studies in engineering, I was pretty lost! All I knew was that I wanted a solid course, a full and wholesome experience of university life, stability in my education, and of course to learn from people who were even more passionate about engineering than me and as they say people with engineering expertise “In their blood”. So, finally I chose Northshore College mainly because it was affiliated with University of the West of England, Bristol UK. What I found there, in fact exceeded my expectations.
When I first heard that University of the West of England, Bristol (UWE,Bristol) was opening up in Sri Lanka, I was ecstatic. Obviously, I had heard everything about it, but it was not the popularity or prestige that truly hooked me. It was the international reputation of UWE,Bristol and the confidence I had in Northshore College. From the moment I met the staff and Academic Advisors, I knew Northshore College would never compromise on my dream of becoming an engineer and I was ready to join what has now become my second family.
What do you like most about being a student at Northshore College?
Definitely it is the awesome experience! Every day I spend at Northshore College, is different from the one I had before and each one teaches me something new. But the main contributors to my experience, are my lecturers.
They are phenomenal and learning from them is a unique experience! Their methods of teaching, communicating and interacting are just way up there and I am quiet happily enjoying the beginning of the “rest of my life”. With such great mentors and also my new found friends, I would ask for nothing more. My Northshore family is the best part of my day.
Do you find that your education at Northshore College prepares you adequately for your future career?
Absolutely! Already Northshore College has made us become professionals, teaching us how to manage our time, inculcating a culture of quality surpassing expectations, making us think outside the box, putting us in tight schedules just as the real world would and nurturing us with all the right material. We have learnt to view the world in the wider spectrum and to see things that others don’t see. Northshore College has provided us with a solid stepping stone for the future.
Have your studies at Northshore College motivated you to further pursue your dream?
Yes, without a doubt! When I first joined Northshore, my plan was to “get a degree”. But Northshore College has motivated us and made us realize that there is so much more out there! Learning here has made me want to progress on to Master’s Level in Engineering, to strive to be at the top and made my parents proud.
In so many ways Northshore College has started making me a person who can achieve her dreams and a person who won’t settle for less but get the best out of it all. Because of Northshore College and UWE, I am planning hopefully to go abroad and take my dream further so that one day, I too will be able to join the ranks of world famous engineers and live up to the quality education I have received at Northshore.
