Highly acclaimed dramatist Mr Jayalath Manoratne who is the only Sri Lankan to be honoured with the DLitt ( Doctor of Literature from University of Peradeniya) will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest at the 32nd All-Island Inter School Sinhala Drama competition organized by the Colombo YMBA to be held at the Colombo YMBA main Hall on Saturday, 14th September, 2013.

A Large number of Schools & Dhamma Schools from Island wide participated at the preliminary round competitions held at the Colombo YMBA hall Borella, judged by a 3 member imminent panel. Four finalists who will be perform on 14th September, 2013, are Mayurupada National School, Mawanalla, Museaus College Colombo 07, Sucharitha Wardana Dhamma School, Colombo 05 & Bodhimaluwa Dhamma School, Ja-Ela.

30 minute short course Drama performances’ based on Jathaka Stories will be performed by children in the age group of 6-18.
There will be a large number of Special Challenge Cups & Cash Awards such as Prasanna Goonetilake Challenge Cup for the ‘Best Performing School’ in the name of Past President and member of the Board of Governors who was also the Branch Secretary of the Drama Division for several years. Other challenge Cups introduced are Raja Kuruppu Challenge Cup for the ‘Most Outstanding Actor’ and the Sridath Shri Nandalochana Challenge Cup for the ‘Most Outstanding Actress’. Several other cash presentations will include, Best Ten Performing Schools, Best Director / Producer of the participating Schools & Dhamma Schools, etc.

President of the Colombo YMBA, Mr Suren Abeyagunsekara, Branch Secretary for Drama Activities Mr Anura Serasingha, General Manager of the Colombo YMBA Maj. Gen. A.M.U. Senaviratne & the Staff of the Colombo YMBA have done every endure to make the 32nd All-Island Inter School Drama Competition a success.3
