Trinity, St. Peter’s and Kingswood colleges recorded wins in their respective Singer Under-20 Schools League Rugby Division I ‘A’ matches played yesterday. After trailing in the initial half, Trinity bounced back to record a thrilling win against St. Anthony’s College by 22-14 in their match played at Pallekele. St. Anthony’s sent shock waves as they thwarted Trinity from scoring during the first half and commanded to gain a handsome 14-nil lead, in their own den, through two converted tries. But Trinity romped towards victory after scoring four tries and a conversion.

At Bogambara Kingswood recorded a morale boosting win by 27-17 against defending league champions Isipathana College. After suffering four straight defeats, Kingswood fought back to salvage a draw against Science College last weekend before recording their maiden victory of the season this time. Kingswood who led at half time by 15-8, scored from five tries and a conversion against Isipathana’s two converted tries and a penalty.

St. Peter’s walked out from jaws of defeat to score a try in the last minute as they beat Science by 29-23 in their match played at Bambalapitiya. The match was wholly dominated by Science until the dying moments of the game, before St. Peter’s snatched an exciting win. Science who led by 13-3 at half time scored from a tally of three tries, one conversion and two penalties. St. Peter’s who scored from a solitary penalty during the first half, retaliated with four tries and three conversions after the turnaround.
In a Division I ‘B’ game played at Havelock Park, table leaders S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia massacred Lumbini College by 95-nil. The victors scored from 15 tries and 10 conversions.
