Nondescripts CA return with ten wins
View(s):returned from their tour of Bangalore and Shimoga with ten wins and just two defeats recently.
The Nondescripts Cricket Academy, which is based in Colombo, is without doubt one of the best of its kind in the world and has been in existence for the past 30 years. During this period, the academy has produced a dozen Sri Lankan Test cricketers, the most illustrious being Mahela Jayawardena.
Teams from the academy tour neighbouring India on a regular basis during school vacations especially during April and December to provide international match exposure and also to show its students the cultures of cricketers from other countries while fostering mutual respect.
Led by Anandian Induwara Ranatunga, the Under 16 team took off for India –Bangalore and Shimoga – on April 8 to participate in a 14-day Cricket Fiesta, where they played six thirty-over and a like number of T-20 fixtures.
This was their 17th foreign tour, the 14th to Bangalore and second to Shimoga.
The Nondescripts Cricket Academy has also provided opportunities for budding cricketers from India, England and the Maldives to play in the country. These exchanges have proven to be most fruitful.
On their tour, they played 12 matches and won 10 of which the most convincing was the 227-run win over Davengere CA. They lost only two.
Mention must be made of the following NCA cricketers who received special awards and trophies at a colourful ceremony held at the J.N.N.E.C ground in Shimoga:
Best Batsman- Pathum Perera. Best bowler – Senal Chandrasekera. Best fielder – Shafee Ibrahim. Man of the Series – Rashmita Lokuge. Best Emerging player – Bumudu Perera.
