CH & FC ‘B’ win Bacon Cup
View(s):CH & FC ‘B’ defeated Royal HC by four goals to three in a close knock-out final to win the Bacon Cup at the Astro Turf recently. At the short whistle the scorers were level at two all.
The tournament was conducted by the Colombo Hockey Association.
Royal Hockey Club drew first blood in the 14th minute when S. Bhari found the back of the CH & FC ‘B’ net. However, three minutes later, C. Tissera equalized for CH & FC ‘B’ and in the 20th minute, E. Ekanayake put them into the lead. (2-1). In the 28th minute, Royal HC equalized through Thenver Halaj and at the short break the tally was 2-2.
After the turnaround, Royal HC went ahead when Falul Halaj made it 3-2 in the 46th minute.
However, two more field goals by C. Tissera in the 47th and 49th minutes sealed a 4-3 win for CH & FC ‘B’ and with it the Bacon Cup.
The game was controlled by Ashok Peiris and D.M. Dissanayake, while H.L. Mithrapala was the third umpire.
Anoop Amalean, Director of Nagindas Home Décor (Pvt) Limited and Vice President of the CHA graced the final as the chief guest.
