SSC Cricket Academy emerge U-12 champs
View(s):The SSC Cricket Academy won the inaugural MCA Invitational Under 12 cricket tournament for cricket academies when they defeated Lankans CC by five wickets, in the final played at the MCA grounds on Sunday.
Batting first, Lankan CC were restricted to 97 for six wickets in their quota of 25 overs and SSC CA knocked off the required runs with five wickets to spare in the 19th over of their innings.
In the special awards list based on the league matches, Dilmin Ratnayake of the SSC CA was judged to be the best bowler, having bagged 18 wickets for 41 runs, while the best batsman’s award was won by Kamil Mishara also of the SSC CA who scored 173 runs with a top score of 100 against MCA ‘Greens’ and the Player of the Tournament was Ashen Daniel of KCA ‘Kings’ who aggregated 161 runs.
The Most Disciplined Team, adjudged by the officiating umpires, was the Lankan Academy ‘B’ team beating MCA ‘Blues’.
The Best Captain award was picked up by Kalana Jayawardena of the MCA ‘Blues’.
The Player of the Final, selected by match referee U.S.C. Perera, was Dilmin Ratnayake of the SSC CA for his bowling spell of two for 21 runs off five overs and 22 runs.
The Chief Guest at the awards presentation was Dinesh Chamdimal while the guests of honour were Chris Obeysekera and Mahesh Wijewardena. Also present were MCA President, Ashley Ratnayake and Chairman of the Cricket Development Committee, Nalin Wickramasinghe.
