The experienced doubles pair of Harshana Gadamanne and Rajeev Rajapakse gave Sri Lanka a 2-1 lead in their Group two Asia Oceania Relegation Play-off against Lebanon, when they beat Bassam Beidas and Patrick Chucri 6-7 (6), 7-6 (3), 6-3, 6-4 in their match played at the Automobile et Touring Club du Liban in Lebanon yesterday.

Sri Lanka initially found itself on the back foot after Thangarajah Dineshkanthan lost 1-6, 2-6, 1–6 to Bassam Beidas. However, Godamanne leveled things at 1-1 with a 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 victory over Karim Alayli on Friday. Sri Lanka’s fate now hinges on the performances of either Godamanne, who plays Beidas today, or Dineshkanthan, who will square up against Alayli after Godamanne’s match.
